Problem
We have a serious problem, one that most states have as well and it is cat overpopulation. There has always been a problem with irresponsible owners being tired of their pets and dumping them out like trash! It is an obvious result of animals creating packs, even cats; however, cats become fearful and do not attack people when they see people they run away. Dogs have been known to viciously attack at times.
Cat over population and archaic means of dealing with them is the problem we are facing. I have to call the police almost weekly to come out and take care of dogs because most of them have been aggressive to my small dog and I'm afraid something bad will happen to my 17 year old dog. I have never once had to call the police because a cat made me fearful for mine or my dog life and health. These beautiful creatures are preyed upon by dog fighters that paint their paws so they can more easily tell which cat died. We as humans have failed both sets of creatures as evidenced by the fighting, but officers look for the dogs, they write stories about the dogs, they feel sorry for the dogs and neither write about the cats nor do they care.


Solution
TNR {trap, neuter, release} programs humanely help control the overpopulation. They make wonderful barn cats, wonderful rodent control for any area in which they are released. The trapping to sterilize the cats is a benefit, but they also get a rabies shot and are tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS. In New York City they even move the feral cats to low income areas to help control the rodent population and it has worked very well.

Personal story
With this petition we can force a change in how they are treated in almost every way. Please think of the innocents that starve, get hit and get abused and sign this petition.  I have set up a go fund to help with the cost of getting the petition circulated. I'm going to visit vets and shelters to get vet support. the traveling is costly, so is the paperwork to be sent in so I can be established.
