Allow TMC Workforce to Wear Non-Medical Insignias to Promote Social Inclusion
Why this petition matters

Truman medical center (TMC) is a safety-net hospital in Kansas City, Missouri that serves largely under-privileged and minority patients. In the midst of a nationwide social movement, TMC policy on wearing pins is "Workforce Members may not wear any non-medical insignia such as buttons, pins or ribbons in any TMC patient care or patient waiting area TMC unless specifically authorized by the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or designee." This limits workforce members to show their support and ally-ship to important social inclusion movements Black Lives Matter or LGBT+ Pride Flag by wearing pins or stickers on badges. It is important for vulnerable, under-privileged patients to feel welcome and safe in an inclusive environment. Having workforce members that can show their support of these patients is an easy step to improve the patients comfort.
