As a service dog handler, I rely on companies thinking rationally about whether or not their stores are suitable to be pet friendly locations or not. Places with tight, narrow aisles, or several breakables along the floors and shelves is not a suitable place. Places where an aggressive dog can be hidden around a corner and lash out without enough space to safely pull back is definitely not safe. TjMaxx/Homegoods in my town is one place that has proven to be a more threatening location. My service dog and I have been attacked by aggressive pets five times in this store alone. One simply may ask, "why not just never shop there again?" Well that can be the answer but I'm not the only service dog handler having issues with this store and company. Theres been repeated complaints and offenses which you can look up on youtube, facebook, reddit etc. A disabled person shouldn't have to compromise basic rights to safety just so you can bring your untrained pooch to a store. Therefore I challenge Tjmaxx to become a service dog only facility in all locations and become one of few, truly safe locations for service dog teams in the US and Canada. We are done compromising and we are done with the excuses. Help end the discrimination, harassment and high SD team death tolls in retail stores.
