Greenwich House’s Our Lady of Pompeii Senior Center started in 1973 after St. Vincent’s Hospital informed the local churches that seniors were suffering from malnutrition and struggled without anyone to assist them after they were discharged from the hospital after surgery. In the four decades since, the Center has maintained and expanded its original mission, by continuing to provide nutritional and health services in addition to social and cultural opportunities for local seniors, over half of whom are parishioners at Our Lady of Pompeii.

Greenwich House’s Our Lady of Pompeii Senior Center nutritional and health services include serving 1,400 lunches a month, health lectures, free blood pressure screenings and free annual flu shots. Social and cultural programming includes Chair Exercise, Yoga, Hula Moves, Music Instruction and regional day-excursions. The Center also serves a vital role as a cooling center in the summer and a heating center in the winter.
