In 2009 The Detroit Board of Education, under Robert Bobb, informed us that Finney would be getting a new facility through Proposal S.  However after the citizens and community voted to appropriate the monies they completely reneged on the plan.  That is why the school formerly known as Finney is now East English Village Preparatory Academy. We have rallied the alumni and have gotten the current DPSCD BOE to consider the name change.  Part of the criteria is alumni support.  We do not want to have our legacy continue to be erased and made to feel we do not matter, so here is our chance to change this.
