Last Monday, March 20, we launched our petition and received our first signature. A week later and we accumulated 270 signatures. It’s a good start but we’re not satisfied with that number. Here’s how each of us can help. There are two activities for this week’s homework assignment that can help spread the word. First, we are asking everyone to once again personally notify five people to have them sign the petition. I think we all know at least five people that think the Pennsylvania state and local governments could operate more efficiently and repealing the Separations Act could help in the area of procurement for public construction. This notification is as simple as sending five people this email: Did you know that Pennsylvania overpays for construction services? Our state is one of three states that builds with an inefficient system where there are multiple prime contractors on one project. As one can imagine, this leads to finger-pointing, delays, claims and projects over budget.
