The Issue

Did you know most provinces do not have a Catholic school board???

Ontario is home to a diverse population with a mosaic of beliefs and values.  Despite this, public funds are still channeled to support Catholic schools, a practice that no longer aligns with the principles of equality, diversity, and the inclusion that we strive to uphold.  It's time to change this policy, as maintaining separate school systems based on religion is an outdated reflection of the society we currently live in.

Eliminating public funding for Catholic schools would not only promote fairness among ALL citizens, but it would also translate into significant cost savings. According to recent studies, merging the public and Catholic school systems could save Ontario taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars annually, money that could be directed towards our underfunded educational institutions.

Moreover, the current dual school system discriminates against non-Catholic students and teachers who find themselves limited by employment and educational prospects in a province that should instead reflect all of our shared values of equality and opportunity. By funding one religious system, the government promotes segregation and sends a message that contradicts the values of inclusivity and togetherness that we strive to teach our children.

Sign this petition to call on the Ontario government to end public funding for Catholic schools and invest in a unified, non-discriminatory school system that serves all Ontarians equally and fairly.  Religion and politics should not mix.
