DCPS has initiated the second phase of the renaming process for Wilson High School: selecting a new name. You can find an overview of the process, which is designed to identify a new name by the end of the calendar year, at https://dcps.dc.gov/page/dcps-school-naming-and-renaming-engagement
Right now DCPS is actively soliciting ideas from the public for the new name. The deadline is Friday, October 30. DCPS will draw from these nominations to create a slate of names that will be voted on by the general public in November. So this is extremely important!
The DC History and Justice Collective urges anyone who feels a connection to Wilson High School and to DC to submit a nomination. We hope the new name will convey the values of diversity, inclusion, and reparative justice, on top of the values DCPS has prescribed: Students First, Equity, Excellence, Teamwork, Courage, and Joy.
