Stop JARVIS hearings in Minnesota!

The Issue

From Wikipedia, definition of JARVIS hearing:  "Jarvis hearings refer to court processes in Minnesota, United States, that are made for patients who may have mental health disabilities to be given treatment with antipsychotic medicines without their consent. The hearings are based upon a decision of the Minnesota Supreme Court, Jarvis v. Levine, 418 NW 2d 139 - Minn: Supreme Court 1988 [1] Similar rights exist in most other States."

There is no DNA test done to see if the affected person may have a mutation in which they cannot metabolize the drugs forced upon them in the correct manner.  See:  https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1752928X16300051 .

There is no drug interaction report done to see how the forced drug(s) interact with the drugs already prescribed to the person affected.

My son is currently under a JARVIS hearing in the State of Minnesota and this is the list of drugs he is being forced to take:  Clozaril, Mydriacyl, Robinul Forte GL, Risperdal, Depakote, Effexor XR and Zyprexa.

This is a partial list of interactions from the website, Drugs.com:

cloZAPine risperiDONE

Applies to: Clozaril (clozapine), Risperdal (risperidone)

Talk to your doctor before using cloZAPine together with risperiDONE. CloZAPine can occasionally cause serious cardiovascular side effects such as low blood pressure and cardiac or respiratory arrest, and the risk may be greater in patients that are also receiving medications like risperiDONE. Cardiovascular side effects are most likely to occur when cloZAPine is first started, when it is restarted following an interruption in therapy, or when the dose is increased rapidly. The risk and/or severity of other side effects may also be increased, including dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, confusion, dry mouth, abdominal cramping, constipation, difficulty urinating, heat intolerance, palpitation, irregular heart rhythm, Parkinson-like symptoms, and abnormal muscle movements involving primarily the face and sometimes the limbs. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Let your doctor know if you experience increased or excessive side effects at any time during treatment with these medications, and seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or fast or pounding heartbeats. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position.

cloZAPine venlafaxine

Applies to: Clozaril (clozapine), Effexor XR (venlafaxine)

Using cloZAPine together with venlafaxine can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening, although it is a relatively rare side effect. You may be more susceptible if you have a heart condition called congenital long QT syndrome, other cardiac diseases, conduction abnormalities, or electrolyte disturbances (for example, magnesium or potassium loss due to severe or prolonged diarrhea or vomiting). Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations during treatment with these medications, whether together or alone.

cloZAPine OLANZapine

Applies to: Clozaril (clozapine), Zyprexa (olanzapine)

CloZAPine may occasionally cause serious cardiovascular side effects such as low blood pressure and cardiac or respiratory arrest, and combining it with other medications that can can also have these effects such as OLANZapine may increase the risk. Cardiovascular side effects are most likely to occur at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Other side effects that may also be increased include dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, confusion, dry mouth, abdominal cramping, constipation, difficulty urinating, heat intolerance, low white blood cell count, palpitation, and irregular heart rhythm. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position.

cloZAPine glycopyrrolate

Applies to: Clozaril (clozapine), Robinul Forte (glycopyrrolate)

Using cloZAPine together with glycopyrrolate may increase side effects such as drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, heat intolerance, flushing, decreased sweating, difficulty urinating, abdominal cramping, constipation, irregular heartbeat, confusion, and memory problems. Side effects may be more likely to occur in the elderly or those with a debilitating condition. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you.

venlafaxine OLANZapine

Applies to: Effexor XR (venlafaxine), Zyprexa (olanzapine)

Using OLANZapine together with venlafaxine can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening, although it is a relatively rare side effect. You may be more susceptible if you have a heart condition called congenital long QT syndrome, other cardiac diseases, conduction abnormalities, or electrolyte disturbances (for example, magnesium or potassium loss due to severe or prolonged diarrhea or vomiting). You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations during treatment with these medications, whether together or alone.

That's only some of the major interactions of the drugs being forced into my son.  Also, he has been hospitalized twice in the past for DVT and PE (blood clots in the leg and both lungs) and psychiatric drugs cause clotting.  See:  https://www.webmd.com/dvt/news/20100922/antipsychotics-may-be-linked-to-blood-clots#1

Please stop force-drugging people!  Thank you for caring.  Diane L. Steele
