Gov. Walz declared October of 2020 to be Disabled Employment Awareness Month.

Small businesses with less than 15 employees do not need to adhere to Minnesota Human Rights Act( nor the ADA) allowing them to deny reasonable accommodation requests from disabled employees.  I believe the disabled community's contribution to Minnesota is being hindered by the limitations set within the Minnesota Human Rights Act. Any disabled employee should be able to ask for reasonable accomodations to help them perform their job no matter the size of the business that employs them as long as the accommodations will not cause undue hardships.

Amending the Minnesota Human Rights Act to include all disabled employees despite a business's size is an obvious step in the right direction to ending discrimination and improving work environments for disabled individuals who are just as important to Minnesota and its' economy as their able-bodied neighbors.
