The Issue

First Aid Volunteers are Good Samaritans—fulfilling their lawful duty of care for the injured during a crisis. However, we’ve seen countless examples of first aid volunteers being violently assaulted & arrested by the police—violating their right to due process.

All eyes are on Minnesota.

We Must Take Immediate Action

  • Include First Aid volunteers in curfew exceptions
  • Instruct policing forces NOT to use dispersal methods against, or near, marked First Aid stations or vehicles
  • Rescind citations or charges against First Aid Volunteers arrested since May 25th, 2020, as they are protected under the statute 604A.01 GOOD SAMARITAN LAW. [ https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/604A.01 ]

Long Term Action

  • Quick dissemination of community & NGO volunteer first aid locations & vehicles to policing officials during a crisis
  • Thorough training based on strict policies of non-aggression towards first aid stations and volunteers during a crisis—without exception
