THANK YOU  -  SOME EXTRA REMARKS FOR OUR CASE

Hey guys, thank you so much for the support! I hope the signatures keep coming, because the more names, the stronger our voice will be!
I have received some informative extra remarks from students that will definitely make our case stronger:

  •  In the case of proctoring exams, the student obviously has to give permission. However, their permission has to be given in complete freedom, meaning they have to be able to reject the exam with no consequences attached to it. So, when talking about regular education, online proctoring exams cannot be made mandatory, and a free alternative should always be offered.

However, in our case, rejecting to take the exam will have consequences for us: Rejecting the exams now means having to take them next year, which could lead to study delay. In addition, the university has not offered us any alternatives next to the proctoring exams.
  • A lot of people have travelled back home, which means there will be significant time zone differences; to find a time appropriate for everyone around the world to take the proctoring exam will logistically be very difficult to manage.
  • Some students have mentioned not having a laptop or having a laptop without microphone or webcam. This means that they won’t be able to participate in the proctoring exams, thereby missing their first exams opportunities, which is completely unfair
  • Highlighting again, Proctorio requires stable WiFi connection throughout the entire exam, this can be up until 3 hours. Some of us do not have such strong WiFi at home, and are therefore going into the exam with the risk of failure due to their connection issues.
  • As most of the students have moved back to their homes, they have moved away from their study environments. Many students have mentioned not having a calm work environment where they could take all of their exams in silence for 3 hours straight.
