SHUT DOWN TIK TOK
SHUT DOWN TIK TOK
Imagine being in public with a friend and you want to show them a funny video. You both sit down at a table in the local mall near the food court. There are birds singing in the sky, children laughing, parents watching their kids play while just relaxing and having a bite to eat. After pulling up the video on your phone, you notice an ad start to load in.
”15 seconds long? Oh, that’s not a big deal”, you think to yourself as you wonder what the ad is.
And then you see it. The infamous “TikTok” logo appearing ever so faintly in the corner, creeping up on your screen like the cancer that it is. It’s too late. You can’t turn your volume down and two furries appear on the screen as they start dancing to the most annoying dance music you can think of. In the moment of pure embarrassment that you face at this point, you quickly react poorly and throw your phone on the table without turning the volume down. The birds in the sky start dropping like flies, childrens’ laughter turns into tears, parents who were only trying to eat start regurgitating in response to the cocophany coming from your phone at full volume and at what cost? All of this happens just because a you wanted to share a harmless video with your friend and an advertisement for that plague that you call entertainment had to show up for 15 seconds.
For me and a lot of other people I know, “TikTok” is ruining A LOT of good songs for people who just want to scroll social media or watch a YouTube video without having to sit through these horrendous monstrosities that you call entertainment. It’s not the fact that ads bother us, it’s the fact that they’re “TikTok” ads. It needs to be taken down. Quickly.
