As many of you know, TikTok has been repeatedly banning disabled/chronically ill creators and removing their videos for "content violations", especially those who have medical devices. TikTok claims that they will ban accounts that violate community guidelines, which is important in order to keep the community safe and respectful for all. TikTok's community guidelines state that they will not allow content that "promotes, normalizes, or glorifies extreme violence or suffering". Many of these chronic illness creators that are getting banned are providing support to a large community, that is so often misunderstood and lonely. Additionally, the main intent of these accounts is to spread awareness and information about rare diseases in order to lessen the amount of cases that go undiagnosed. 

TikTok specifically states that they may allow exceptions to the guidelines for "content in the public interest that is newsworthy or otherwise enables individual expression on topics of social importance". Chronic illness advocacy is of great importance! 

Please sign and share this petition to alert TikTok that medical devices are not violent or inappropriate content! Hopefully they will consider reevaluating their algorithm to be more inclusive.
