Stop threatening calls : Tikona Infinet Limited

The Issue

Hello,

I was a Tikona prepaid broadband customer few years back. Due to poor connectivity, I decided to disconnect the connection. On repeated disconnection requests, Tikona was not ready to process my requests and they kept asking me if I want to transfer/shift the connection. I denied the same multiple times, and finally they sent a mail saying that the connection is terminated. But, the drama did not end there. They again started calling me, for me to continue their service. They gave me an offer, which was for 1140 RS, for 1 year. What they offered me was, play 1140 for a year, and I will be getting 20 GB's every month, without paying anything more for a year, since it was a cheap plan, I decided to keep it, thinking I could use it for any emergency situation, as I was already having another broadband connection. After making the payment, the internet got activated, but that was when we got to know that, it was for a year, 20 GB was allocated. Hence we stopped using the connection regularly.

That's where the problems started. Every month we were charged an amount of 100 or so, even though we were told by Tikona that it's a 1 year plan. The bill kept coming, and we kept calling for a clearance of the bill, as I had already paid for a year as mentioned by the customer care executives.

After 1 year, there was no intimation regarding the plan expiry, nor we requested for a renewal. Later again after 2-3 months, we started getting mails that our bills have been generated for that period.

First thing, we never asked for a renewal, because Tikona was the worst broadband we've ever had. Without my concern, Tikona renewed the plan, and started generating bills. There was no intimation regarding this. The entire time, I have sent mails to Tikona for disconnection of my service(screnshots attached), for which they never responded. Every time I called, they either say "We'll take your request" or they drop the call. Once in a while I started getting mails or calls, and when I say it's a fake bill, and I want a clarification regarding this, they again disconnect the call.

Now after 3 years, I am getting calls from random people, claiming themselves to be advocates, from Delhi, saying Tikona has filed a complaint against me, for non-payment of the bill. They are threatening me like local rowdies, and it's clearly threatening calls. Which is mentally harassing me.

Points to be noted:

  • I was told that, it's a pay once and use for 1 year plan, by Tikona CC.
  • During this 1 year period also I was getting bills every month, but when I tried reaching out to Tikona, they never responded. I have contacted Tikona, during this period, asking them to disconnect the service.
  • There was no intimation regarding the existing 1 year plan expiry.
  • After continuous requests for disconnection, still Tikona was not ready to disconnect my connection.
  • I did not accept a Router from Tikona, as I was already having one.
  • The device Tikona fixed on my apartment terrace, was already being used by multiple people in the same building.

Now after all the above points, I was billed with 5400+ RS, for which the so called advocates are calling me and threatening.

Below are few conversation I have had with this lawyer on phone, he introduced herself to be lawyer "Neha Sharma", calls come from numbers like, 9599441835, etc.

  • "You're a chor(thief)!".
  • "Why can't you pay this small amount?"
  • "Your photos will be in the newspaper, because you're a thief!"
  • "If you don't want all these, then pay the amount now!"

and it goes on. They're even calling my friends and threatening them. I have no idea from where they're picking these numbers. Even abusive manners. After checking for a while in the internet, for the similar kind of issues, I got to know that, I am not the only one who's been a victim of this. The number's itself, from which they're calling from, are marked as "Tikona fraud lawyer" in true-caller.

Tikona was aquired by Airtel recently. A company which has a good reputation in the market, is doing such a poor business with customers, by threatening them mentally. This has to be stopped!

Tikona is responsible for the mental harassment I am facing from these so called advocates, who are calling me.

I want Tikona to stop this, begging and threatening for the money, which was charged illegally on customers, for periods where they did not even use Tikonas service.
