The Issue

October 24, 2015 at approximately 10:32 a.m Melissa Pruett called Animal Services to report that her neighbor ,Richard Baker came onto her property and killed her miniature dachshund {Abby}. Melissa had put Abby out less than 5 minutes to go to the bathroom and went back into the house briefly as she had a two year old child. Melissa's other Dachshund was alerted to a commotion outside and when she opened her door she saw Abby lying flat on the ground with Rick Baker standing over her. Abby was bleeding and her head had been crushed. She was fighting to breathe. Melissa rushed Abby to Animal Emergency and was told "Abby's injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma consistent with someone stomping on her head and her prognosis was very grave." The vet also said the "force was so tremendous that the skull bone was pushed into the dogs head." Abby was humanely euthanized.  Richard Baker repeatedly told Deputy Norton that he felt he had to protect himself because Abby lunged at him while he was walking on he sidewalk, Deputy Norton reminded him that she was tethered and on her own property and in no way could reach the side walk. Several witnesses have come forward to report several incidents that they have had trouble with Richard Baker in regard to their dogs. Describing him as very angry, confrontational, and has literally yelled at them if their dogs bark even briefly. Please help be Abby's voice, and speak up against animal cruelty that will absolutely not be tolerated.  People like Richard Baker are ticking time bombs, it's just a matter of time, and he will victimize again.
