Proposal to stop Thurrock council collecting bins fortnightly

The Issue

It has come to light that Thurrock Council are proposing to collect residents bins fortnightly instead of the weekly collections currently in place, in addition there will be a £30 per year charge to have brown bins collected.
Without a reduction in council tax rates Thurrock residents do not welcome this change. Whilst council tax rates continue to rise services should not be taken away. We are already suffering the results of insufficient police funding with the rising levels of crime. Residents should not suffer due to budgeting issues. Fly tipping is already an issue in the area and this proposal will only increase this which in turn will cost the council to clear up.
