The Issue

Petition Thurrock council to get Coalhouse fort open without further delay or excuse. Latest excuse will be owls nesting in the fort which they have for decades even when the fort was open to the public. There are teams of volunteers standing by ready to take up the challenge and get the fort into a usable condition again but the council are using excuse after excuse to delay. It’s an outrageous neglect of a local asset and attraction. How can people be proud of where they live when the local council are allowing such a historic building fall into a state of disrepair. The grass has only just been cut on the outside due to local outcry on social media.

Thurrock council are asking opinions on new projects not even started but need to concentrate on the assets it already has. It is a neglect of their duty to not commence repairs immediately and at the least allow the more than capable volunteer teams to tidy up the fort.
Please show your support and let Thurrock council know how important this landmark is to the area.
