Over the past 16 months I have become a vocal advocate for authentic educational choice, as well as the involvement of parents in the education of their children. Why? Because I believe both of these are foundational to the success and health of children. This petition has been an effective method to bring increased awareness to an important issue and provide ongoing updates as we still await a resolution. In the meantime, there is another advocacy strategy I have launched on a separate, but related issue. Please take some time to learn more about it and consider getting involved. On March 13th I wrote a blog article exposing how a government funded and recommended resource was directing K-12 children to sexually graphic material in 1-2 clicks. Less than 24 hours after I wrote that blog article, 18 of the 66 links were removed from the website. Three weeks later that entire section of the website was taken down. If you haven’t read the original blog article it is here: https://informedalbertans.wordpress.com/2017/03/13/alberta-government-funds-website-directing-k-12-kids-to-sexually-graphic-content/ On April 7th I published a follow-up video to explain why removing links is not enough. I also describe three different ways that people can speak up for the health and safety of children in our schools to demand that the Minister of Education provide public assurances regarding the individuals/organizations being entrusted with authority over our education system. View the video through this link: https://informedalbertans.wordpress.com/sexually-graphic-material-to-kids-in-alberta-schools-what-you-can-do/ Please consider supporting this initiative – the more people we can get involved, the greater the impact. Note that this new strategy is time-sensitive and the deadline of May 12th is approaching quickly. Thank you for your continued support of children and families in this province! Sincerely, Theresa informedalbertans@gmail.com
