Almost 3500 signatures and still increasing! Thank you for your support! I am excited to announce two new opportunities that will allow us to continue advocating for choice, freedom and parental rights in education. First, if you are in the Red Deer area on Tuesday evening (or know others who are), please consider attending a “Conversation with Education Minister David Eggen to discuss curriculum development” in order to provide your input. http://rdcrs.ca/parents/whats-new/post/a-conversation-with-education-minister-david-eggen Second, I would encourage everyone to support an exciting new online campaign launched by Parents for Choice in Education (PCE) a few days ago. PCE is a non-profit organization uniting Albertans with the mission to “advocate for an excellent, quality-oriented and choice-driven education system which recognizes parental authority.” What I appreciate most about PCE’s new campaign – and how it is unique beyond any other petition/open letter – is that it is proactively laying the groundwork to inform upcoming critical voting opportunities. The specific “asks” of the campaign will become the basis for candidacy surveys provided to school board trustee candidates next fall, as well as to those currently seeking election to leadership of the PC party. Fortunately we still live in a democracy where elected officials rely on our votes to get them a job. Votes are political currency. And it is our responsibility to invest them wisely. Please sign up for the “Parental Consent is Key” campaign using the link below. The more people who sign up to demonstrate their support, the more motivation for elected representatives to actually address these issues if they want to gain our votes. The PCE website has a wealth of resources available to help inform Albertans on many issues facing our education system. Consider signing up to their newsletter at their homepage to stay up-to-date and continue to spread the word to others on how authentic educational choice, freedom and parental authority are under threat in Alberta schools today. Your persistent efforts are invaluable as we continue to educate our elected officials and ensure these issues stay on their radar. Thank you for your continued support! Theresa
