What happened in Arizona's closed Democratic primary a few days ago was described by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey as unacceptable. Among his suggestions to improve the process was opening up the primary election to registered independent voters. Gov. Ducey is correct. Independent voters have just as much of a right to select the next president as those affiliated with a party. Taking away these individuals' right to vote is undemocratic and unconstitutional.
