Dialysis to prolong a life and respect advance directives

Dialysis to prolong a life and respect advance directives
The Issue
I am writing you to request for support for a patient right to continue living to stop doctors playing god at Jefferson Hospital
My mom, Raquel Toral, Hispanic, 77 years old, currently at Gibbon Building, is a multiple stroke survivor who proved to beat all odds and prognosis of hours, then days, then months to live. A fighter that has overcome comma, multiple infections/pneumonia, wounds, brain injuries, brain hemorrhages and 13 months after continue bringing joy to her love ones, understanding conversations, continue joining us for coffee, continue strolling museums. Her kidneys have shutdown and she was offered dialysis by nephrologist. All of the sudden, the attending physician changed her mind disregarding the consent and our understanding of the risks. The attending physician brought this issue to an ethical committee and now the hospital position is even refusing to prolong her life and grant her advance directives.
She is dying and the response has been totally unacceptable, violating all codes pertaining patient rights and enforcing a recommendation of not treating her anymore, trying to send the problem to another hospital, extending her pain and suffering and delaying a treatment just because of a medical opinion of playing god to determine who lives, who dies. However, against all odds, she continues fighting in her room for her life
Please sing this petition, nobody deserves to die without a chance. Patients deserve the compassion and respect of their wishes and in her case it is to continue living.
