Hello all 166,556 of you! As I'm sure you've read, yesterday Thomas Cook released a new animal welfare policy which, I quote: 'takes a much stronger approach to ensuring the welfare of animals in attractions'. Having read the statement released by Thomas Cook, and having spoken to their PR team, I feel like this is a small step in the right direction. Improving welfare can never be a bad thing. However, this petition fundamentally disagrees with the concept of captive dolphins. A key goal of this campaign as been about highlighting that no tank, no matter how big, can ever begin to replicate the conditions of the ocean. Dolphins are creatures that DO NOT belong in captivity, and by continuing to sell tickets to dolphin parks, Thomas Cook are still complicit in fuelling the demand for this cruel industry. Over the next few months, Thomas Cook will be releasing further information about the guidelines their attractions must follow, and they will also be releasing information regarding which attractions they will no longer be working with. I look forward to these releases. In the meantime, I want to thank you all again, and I'd like you to help me once more by asking Thomas Cook to think of the dolphins, and to remind them that no tank will ever be the same as the ocean. Please share your thoughts with Thomas Cook on their Facebook and Twitter. This has worked so well in the past, and the more voices we have the better. Please also continue to share this petition, and talk about this issue! Together we can all make a real difference. As I have said before, change is slow, but it is coming. Thank you for being a part of the change. Until all the tanks are empty, Katie
