Dear friends and supporters,
Thank you again for standing with me and our community by signing and sharing the petition to protect the future of Chelsea Theatre. Your voices have made a real impact — and I want to share an important development with you all.
This week, I received a reply from the Chair of Trustees, acknowledging the concerns raised in my letter and the petition. In his response, he confirmed the appointment of a new CEO Katie Elston starting in August, and expressed openness to a future community-led meeting to rebuild dialogue and trust.
In response, I wrote back to welcome the opportunity for meaningful engagement and to affirm what so many of you have echoed: we feel hopeful again — hopeful that Chelsea Theatre will finally listen, address deep-rooted issues, and create a space where justice and belonging can flourish for everyone.
The level of public support has been overwhelming. Nearly 60 people have signed so far, and several have donated to keep this work going. Even individuals who once criticised my efforts are now standing in solidarity — proof that this movement is bigger than any one person.
I will keep you updated as we await the proposed meeting with the new CEO and trustees. In the meantime, your continued encouragement, shares, and comments mean the world. Please keep spreading the word — we are being heard, and we are making a difference.
With love and solidarity,
Khadidja N’Diaye
CEO, Cheri Coco
