Dear Supporters, This Thursday 7 April is the 1,800 day anniversary of 76 year old British Grandpa Kamal’s detention in Evin Prison. It is unbelievable that our nightmare has gone on so long, and still there is no news about the 18 November medical! Just recently, our hopes have built up twice that Grandpa Kamal may be released, only to be cruelly dashed. First, prisoners were released in the build up to Norooz New Year 20 March. Then, in the last few days, the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Khamenei announced that 630 prisoners would be released on Islamic Republic Day last Thursday 31 March. Unfortunately, each time Grandpa Kamal was not released. We have no idea why Grandpa Kamal was arrested, let alone why he is not being considered for release. The humanitarian case is so strong you would have thought Iran could release just one more prisoner who has never hurt anyone and is one of the oldest and loneliest prisoners in Iran. Perhaps our voices have not been heard loudly enough by the right people.
