We want to remove the 1% pay cap for public sector workers

We the people of Britain, as your employers, would like you to remove the public sector pay cap.

The public sector pay cap is the government policy which limits annual rises for public sector workers to 1 per cent. Teachers, nurses, police officers, firefighters, prison officers and judges are among those affected by the pay cap.

But pay review bodies for the NHS and schools have reported problems of recruitment and retention in their sectors due to the cap. Some public sector workers are having to move profession to make ends meet.

Given the outstanding job that our emergency services perform week in, week out, we the public feel that they deserve just reward for their efforts

And given the tragedies of recent weeks and the incredible bravery and heroism these people and their colleagues across the country have shown, with little thought for their own lives, it is time to find the money to make sure these brave and honourable men and women are being paid a decent wage for the incredible job they do.
