No. 10 has finally given us a date for delivery

Dear Supporter, I know it has been a while since I told you that we expected to deliver this petition to Downing Street, and I am sorry for the delay. The fact is that to get a date to deliver the petition, we have to jump through a number of hoops, including security checks on all the members of the delivery delegation. This has taken an unconscionable amount of time, and I am sorry that that is why you have had to wait so long for an update, but I am happy to say that we have now been given a slot on he afternoon of 26th September to give it to No. 10. Even with our slot confirmed, we have been warned that "affairs of State" take precedence, and we may not be able actually to take it to the Prime Minister's residence, but may have to leave it with the police at the Downing Street gates. I am also very sorry to continue hearing that many of you are still mysteriously unable to sign it (absence of a signature button seeming to be the main reason). I have tried to get this resolved, but with little success, I'm afraid. (Personally, I still suspect some kind of interference from quarters unknown.) In any event, please continue to share it until the last moment (it will go to the printer either this Friday or Monday), as I really would like to get to 40,000 signatures.
