Dear Friends,

Nearly seven years ago, over 1,600 of you stood with me and supported my first petition. Today, I’m reaching out to share where that journey has taken me and to ask for your support once more. This new petition is a continuation of my mission—only now, I have a clearer vision of how we can create real change.

This is a mother-led grassroots movement to help mothers of prisoners reclaim their voices, actively contribute to their sons’ rehabilitation, and finally have a seat at the table.

It’s been almost nine years since life set me on this path, and the journey has been both painful and profound. I have driven thousands of miles, shed countless tears, and taken many deep breaths to keep going. Even now, leaving my son behind in the visitor hall—seeing him lower his gaze so he doesn’t watch us walk out without him—is just as heart-wrenching as the first time.

I still feel helpless hearing about the endless hours he spends locked in his cell, the fluctuating temperatures that make his environment barely livable. My back still aches from those long drives, and my other children still ask, again and again, “How much longer?” hoping the answer will finally be different. But no matter how we count the years, the answer remains the same: too long.

Yet, through it all, there is hope. My son has changed, even within those walls. He’s completed courses, acted in a Shakespeare play, recorded music, participated in a one-on-one therapeutic program, and is now waiting for a chance to start a degree course through the Open University. And I, too, have taken steps forward—each one bringing me closer to a vision that now feels within reach.

I want to thank each of you for the strength you gave me in my weakest moments. Your 1,600 signatures were more than just names; they were a lifeline when many others, including some close to us, turned away. You reminded me that I was never alone.

Today, I’m working on a nationwide initiative that recognizes the critical role mothers of prisoners can play. Our prison system is strained beyond measure, recently reaching full capacity. Underfunding and understaffing are constant challenges. That’s why I believe it’s time to empower mothers of prisoners—to create a space where we can meet, receive training and support, and work towards meaningful rehabilitation for our sons.

More than ever, I need your support once again. Please, join me by signing this second petition. Let’s reclaim these voices together and work towards making our society a safer, more compassionate place for all.
