VICTORY!!! #FreePeriods - The Govt has extended their pledge to cover ALL schools in England!
Apr 16, 2019 —
Hello all 274,580 of you!
The BEST news today - The government has announced that the pledge to provide period products in all English secondary schools and colleges will now be rolled out to primary schools too! EVERY child in education will have access to free period products.
This will mean that every single child in compulsory education, in primary, secondary schools and colleges, will no longer need to worry about where their next pad or tampon will come from.
Children and Families Minister Nadhim Zahawi confirmed that the full scheme will be rolled out nationally from early 2020 and that period products in ALL schools will be fully funded by the Department of Education.
Thank you to EVERYONE who has written to their MPs, signed the #FreePeriods petition, came to our protest, and has been a part of the #FreePeriods movement. The government have heard us, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Periods should never, ever be a barrier to education, and, finally, it looks like period poverty will be totally eradicated in all English schools.
Thank you so much to all of you,
