Hello all 8,885 of you! Last week, I went to The House of Lords to meet Baroness Burt of Solihull. As the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Equalities, she is completely committed to eradicating period poverty in schools. She was the first Peer to mention the word ‘period’ in the House of Lords in a historic debate where she suggested provision of free sanitary products for girls on free school meals. She’s incredible. We will be working together towards a strategy which we hope will change government policy so girls from low-income families can go to school with dignity. But we need your help too - please urge your MPs (email, tweet and pester!) to tackle period poverty so they can see that there’s a real movement of people who demand change. Thank you! Amika George
