I want to ban isothiazolinones (also known as Kathon g) and any derivatives such as methyl isothiazolinone etc. It’s a preservative and anti bacterial that is found in everything from paint, cleaning products, face wash, moisturiser, baby wipes, mouthwash and lots Cosmetics. It can cause severe allergic reaction and is absorbed through contact and through the air. The huge controversy surrounding Kathon CG came in in the UK in mid-2013 when BBC Watchdog discovered that a number of leading cosmetics used the preservative, despite repeated warnings from leading dermatologists and health campaigners. In the immediate aftermath, brands such as Vaseline, Brylcreem, Huggies, and Nivea voluntarily agreed to use alternatives.

As of Feb 2017 the eu banned the substance in ‘leave on products’ and baby wipes but it is still present in ‘rinse off items’ !!
