Petition updateScrap the Cap: Exempt overseas doctors coming to work in the NHS from Tier 2 Visa capsVictory - #CapScrapped

The Doctors’ Association UK

Jun 19, 2018
Dear Supporters,
The Doctors' Association UK is delighted that the cap on tier 2 visas for non EU migrant doctors has been lifted as of the 15th of June 2018, though concerned as to the length of time that has elapsed awaiting such a positive development.
With any luck, the 2300 or so doctors who have till now been denied entry to the UK since the end of last year will be able to commence the jobs they have successfully interviewed for.
Doctors like Nnaemeka Chidumije, a surgical trainee who has had his surgical career halted in its tracks and has had to face his training number potentially being declared void. The human story of this debacle and the untold stress placed upon thousands of professionals in this precarious position has yet to be fully explored.
Our work started with this petition on the 3rd of May and we have since appeared on national radio and TV to bring attention to this issue.
I will emphasise that though we are pleased the cap has been lifted, we will continue to monitor the situation and not rest until every one of those doctors takes up their jobs on the frontlines alongside us.
Thank you for your support and patience, we hope you will continue to support our efforts.
