Their Lives Mattered: EU Must Condemn the Minab School Bombing
The Issue
As mothers, fathers, and human beings, we cannot stay silent.
On Feb 28th, in Minab, over 160 innocent school children lost their lives in a US-Israel led bombing campaign. These were not just numbers. They were children with dreams, families, and futures—lives that should have been protected, not brutally taken.
From one parent to another, we ask you to pause and imagine the weight of this loss. Empty desks in classrooms. Unanswered calls. Families forever changed. No child, anywhere in the world, should ever be a victim of such violence.
International organizations, including UNESCO, along with multiple human rights groups, have expressed deep concern and condemnation over attacks on schools and the killing of children. These voices have made it clear: educational spaces must be protected, and children must never be targets.
Yet, this tragedy has not received the clear and unified condemnation it deserves at the European level.
We, the undersigned, call on the European Parliament to:
- Publicly and unequivocally condemn the Minab school bombing
- Affirm the protection of children and schools as a fundamental principle of international law
- Ensure that the lives of these children are acknowledged and not forgotten
This is not about politics. This is about humanity and adherence to international law.
Silence in the face of such loss risks normalizing the unthinkable. A clear statement, however, sends a powerful message—that the lives of these children mattered, and that the world is watching.
We urge you to stand on the side of humanity, to speak for those who no longer can, and to ensure that these children are remembered with dignity.
Their lives mattered. Their voices must not be erased.
