The Issue

Having received no funding from Maryland's Legislative Bond Program in 2013 and partial funding of $100,000 on a $250,000 need in 2014, the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation received support from the Allegany County Commissioners for a $250,000 request in 2015.  The status of this request is still uncertain as 2015 budget deliberations come to a close in Annapolis.

As volunteers, foundation members, contributors and community advocates who support Allegany County's pioneering efforts to operate a municipal shelter that does not euthanize adoptable animals for space, petitioners are respectfully requesting that members of the Western Maryland Delegation to Annapolis work urgently in the final days of this legislative session to find funds for the construction of much needed capital improvements at the Allegany County Animal Shelter's campus.
