The Gifted, a spinoff of the popular X-Men franchise, was on tv for a mere two seasons, and unceremoniously axed in the recent merger of Disney and FOX.  The X-Men are a popular metaphor for repressed groups, and have often been used as crusading against hatred and injustice.  This is a message that is becoming increasingly important, and The Gifted often tackled a lot of tough issues.  Cancelling it so soon, when it is needed the most, is shortsighted.

Moving the show to a streaming service, or another channel, is definitely a viable option, and might give it more freedom to even be more relevant and deal with more in depth issues.

The fandom needs to come together and show the companies involved that there is a thirst for X-Men content, especially now that it will be a good five years before we see anything new from the franchise.

With no movies to compete with, and everything back under the same roof, The Gifted could go all out in another season, bringing in the fan favourite characters it was always lacking, draw in the longtime fans as viewers, and give an explosive finally to wrap up the entire Gifted and X-Men saga the way it deserves...or even set things up for more.

In a world with no X-Men movies or shows for the foreseeable future, keeping something on the air to whet the appetite of fans is a smart move, and give us closure to the stories and characters we have come to love.

I have been a lifelong fan of the X-Men, and The Gifted was an amazing addition to the canon.  It dealt with tough issues like racism and immigration, the X-Men's bread and butter, while also thrilling with superhero action.  There are many characters that the X-Men adaptations have yet to mine, and with everything being restarted when it moves to the MCU, ever seeing some of my personal favourites is at an all time low, unless The Gifted gets to move forward.  Also, there are a number of characters whose stories need to be finished before we move along.

So I implore Disney, Marvel, Hulu, or any company interested in picking the show up, to give the fans what we want; a third season of The Gifted.  Maybe more, but we're not greedy.
