When the cars movie first came out, it was a great success. However, in late 2008, when Paul Newman, the original voice actor for Doc Hudson died, John Lasseter, The CCO of Pixar, decided to kill him off; even though Corey Burton voiced him at least once. This act is one of the main reasons why Cars 2, the sequel to the first film, had poor reviews. The same reason also applies to the 3rd film 'Cars 3.'
