Restore True Mulan narrative in Live-Action Film

Restore True Mulan narrative in Live-Action Film
The Issue
Disney's Live-action feature film remake of Mulan has released its casting call for lead characters. In the document, it describes the search for a "Chen Honghui" character.
Chen Honghui will REPLACE Li Shang, the original lead character who served as the army captain that was Mulan's love interest in the original animated Mulan film. Chen Honghui will not be a Captain, but rather another soldier recruit who is jealous of Mulan until he finds out she is a woman. In other words, the story will be mostly rewritten.
Li Shang has been hailed as a bisexual icon for the LGBT+ community, and Chen Honghui's description is likely to eliminate the possibility that he is bisexual.
The full description of Chen Honghui is as follows:
"Honghui is another recruit who joins Commander Tung's unit, and he's determined to be the best soldier in human history. Full of himself, with a mean, bullying streak to him, he realizes that Mulan is his chief rival, but he does not realize she is a woman. Grittily determined to be simply the best at everything, Honghui is increasingly peeved by Mulan's ability to match or out-maneuver him. But after learning that his rival is a woman, his intense feelings of rivalry turn into something very different, something like love."
Further, it is rumoured that the Live-action remake may NOT include the original Mulan soundtrack and may not be a musical.
The Millennial generation, Asian and Asian-Diaspora communities petition Disney to restore the original narrative and songs of Mulan for its Live-action remake.
Mulan is an emblem of greatness in the animated movie realm and especially for the Asian community who is not readily represented in Western films. To completely derail the essence of what makes Mulan so legendary -- including the role of Li Shang, the storyline, and the soundtrack -- is an insult to the Mulan fandom and will be a great disappointment.
*Note: The Live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast followed the original storyline to a tee. Why should it be any different for Mulan?
