Let's make Disney approve the release of Gravity Falls artbook for it's 10th anniversary!
El problema
Hello to every Gravity Falls fan:
As we know, despite the series coming to an end on February 2016, Alex Hirsch, his team and Disney have still been releasing great merchandise such as Journal 3, a blacklight special edition, the Gravity Falls Lost Legends graphic novel, a Gravity Falls Blu ray and DVD Box set and even an upcoming vinyl soundtrack that will be released later this year.
However, there was always something missing that many other tv shows like Over the Garden Wall and Steven Universe had gotten and Gravity Falls didn't, which was an artbook. Why is that?
As Alex Hirsch explains in his tweets:
https://twitter.com/_AlexHirsch/status/1397044165574238208
"We had a Gravity Falls art book all lined up w Dark Horse in 2020, it was going to be amazing, hardcover, filled w exclusive never before seen art. Diz Publishing approved the contract. Then Diz Channel canned it with zero explanation. I still have no idea why. We were all ready. The crazy thing is, Disney wouldn’t have had to do *any work.* All they had to do was say “sure” & we would have produced it, they’d get free money, fans would get the book & it would help the brand. Zero downside. We gave them a layup and they puked on themselves & passed out.
If it’s any consolation, this year Disney made a GF book without me where all the illustrations were just screencaps and one of them- I kid you not- still had a QuickTime player bar on it. This is a *published book in actual stores*
Disclaimer: This stuff all happened ages ago & it’s water under the bridge, I’m not upset or trying to get y’all to write letters or anything, I just continue to be fascinated by how out of touch some of these big companies are with their audiences. Looking back at my emails it was actually in March 2019 when it was cancelled. This wasn’t restructuring-related or covid-related incompetence, this was Incompetence ClassicTM"
So, why do I make this petition? To prove Disney wrong, to show them that we, Gravity Falls fans, would LOVE to get that book and convince them to approve it and let Alex Hirsch and his team sign up with Dark Horse to release that amazing book, specially because in one year, Gravity Falls will celebrate it's 10th anniversary, which is the perfect chance and date to release it as a celebration of the series' original release. Also, it would be a good time to remind them this because, as we have seen in the past, previous Gravity Falls books were a huge success in sales, Journal 3 and Lost Legends were best sellers for a long time, this artbook wouldn't be an exception. Alex would get to release his book, Disney would have to do ZERO effort, only approve it, and we Gravity Falls fans would get an amazing artbook that would reveal the making of the show. Everybody would win!
So, as a Gravity Falls fan, I summon GLOBNAR and EVERY Gravity Falls fan who would LOVE to get this artbook come to stores and sign up this petition so Disney hears our voices!
