Last month, we wrote to you about Goldman Environmental Prize winner Kristal Ambrose of Eleuthera and her support for our campaign to save Lighthouse Point. Now we want to recognize two other women.

The iconic Explorers Club has just named Casuarina Mckinney-Lambert as one of 21 women among “the 50 explorers who are changing the world.” She is the executive director of the Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF) and a partner in our campaign. She has worked for more than a decade to protect the country’s coral reefs and coastal treasures, especially Lighthouse Point on her home island of Eleuthera.

We also want to give a shoutout to Izzi Sistek, a Rochester NY high school senior. Izzi recently learned about Disney’s plans for a cruise ship port at Lighthouse Point and felt strongly that South Eleuthera deserves a sustainable future. She initiated her own grassroots effort and raised more than $1000 dollars to support our campaign to protect this unique natural site and provide a better economic alternative for the local communities.

We are inspired by these women’s efforts and hope that you will be too! We want to reach a half million supporters asap. You can do your part by getting your friends to sign the petition. Please share it with your friends on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
