As we approach the holidays, we are delighted to announce that international Waterkeeper Alliance is the new institutional home for the renewed campaign to persuade Disney to abandon its current plans to build a massive cruise ship point at Lighthouse Point - a unique natural site at the heart of a proposed Marine Protected Area.
The Alliance wants to send a team to the Bahamas led by its President Bobby Kennedy and Executive Director Marc Yaggi, to see first hand the hurricane damage on Grand Bahama and the potential for damage to Lighthouse Point. There will be a public event in Nassau to stimulate a conversation on “Dorian & Disney: Lighthouse Point, Climate Change and the Future of The Bahamas.”
Thank you again for being one of more than 135,000 people to sign our petition! Now we need your help to secure the funds needed for the Alliance mission to The Bahamas and to step up the campaign. Please take a few minutes to click here and donate whatever you can. Every bit helps!
Disney is rushing ahead with the Environmental Impact Assessment while still refusing to meet with independent scientists and Bahamian environmental groups.
This is our Last Chance to make Lighthouse Point a beacon of hope for the future of the oceans and planet! We need your help today!
