You are one of more than 90,000 people who have sent a message to Disney to save Lighthouse Point on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. Over the weekend, Hurricane Dorian, a Category 5 storm, passed far north of Lighthouse Point and then slammed into the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama.
With winds reaching over 200 miles per hour and catastrophic storm-surge flooding up to 18 feet, Dorian has killed at least five Bahamians, injured many more, and destroyed thousands of homes, businesses, and vehicles.
This tragedy is personal for us. Three of our partners and friends in the Last Chance for Lighthouse Point campaign live in Grand Bahama. Right now we have heard that they are all safe, although two of their homes were flooded.
The people of Grand Bahama and Abaco need your help. Please take a few moments to donate to the One Eleuthera Foundation of the United States, a 501c3 charitable organization. One hundred percent of donations to OEF’s Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund will be used to help the thousands of Bahamians left devastated in the wake of Dorian. If each one of us donates only a few dollars, we could provide much more than $100,000 in emergency aid.
When you signed the Last Chance for Lighthouse Point petition, you showed concern about the damage that Disney was proposing to do in The Bahamas. Now your donation can demonstrate your concern about what Hurricane Dorian has done to Bahamians. Please click here and be sure to enter your donation amount next to the “Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund.”
Thank you for your support!
