The fans have spoken and they want a Muppets Great Gatsby film!  Since the American literary classic entered the public domain in January of 2021, the public demand for Muppets Gatsby has gone viral and resulted in a feature-length screenplay:

As the author behind the script, I can tell you to the story of how it was written is just as interesting as the demand for the film itself.  This screenplay was written because of the January 6th, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.  Due to the viral demand, I had played around with the idea of the script and which Muppets would play what roles but I was not yet serious about writing it.  When the insurrection at the Capitol began, I knew I had to escape away from the news screens or I would be sucked into the depression and anger of the endless news cycle. I began writing immediately and devoted myself to adapting the story of Gatsby through the heart and soul of the Muppets. In times of sadness of loneliness as a child, I always had the works of Jim Henson to help and guide me. That's why I want this film to be made.

All these years later, I still have the comfort of this banjo-playing felt frog and my primary goal in writing Muppets Great Gatsby was always to pay respect to a fellow Mississippian who I love dearly - Jim Henson. He helped me through difficult times as a child and he was helping me again now. This story is my tribute to him.

Written in under two weeks and posted to Reddit on January 14th, 2021 - "Muppets Present The Great Gatsby" was an instant viral hit, with articles from The Verge and AV Club joining the demand for the film to be made and Twitter response only growing since the novel first entered the public domain.

With The Muppet Show's recent addition to Disney+ generating new interest in the property and fans from around the world wondering what is next for Kermit and friends - the answer is clear.

Disney needs to make a Muppets Great Gatsby adaptation.  The script not only exists but is widely praised, the demand for this adaptation has been apparent for months, and it has been 25 years since the last major Muppet literary adaptation - Muppet Treasure Island. The Muppet Christmas Carol remains one of the greatest adaptations of Charles Dickens' classic work ever put to film - the kind of film that makes viewers want to read old classics as much as they want to enjoy more works by the Muppets.

100 years after Gatsby's tale of love and loss in the American dream took place - the ball is in your court, Disney. Will you give "Muppets Present The Great Gatsby" the green-light?
