The newest star wars trilogy has been nothing short of an abomination. 

The three movies have little coherence and are soulless cash grabs in an otherwise deep and satisfying franchise. There is little character development done over the course of all this time, and arguably characters from the original franchise have found themselves in WORSE circumstances than they did before. There are no radically new and diverse planets and species to be explored, and no world building is done to differentiate from the OT at all. No one expected you to pull directly from the expanded universe, but you had DECADES of content to inspire a story. Instead of something new, we got a hodgepodge of rehashing and obfuscation. None of this has any weight or will be remembered in a decade.

Things may seem grim, but it is not to late for you to redeem yourself Disney. You've lost money in this deal but there is a path to redemption. You can earn your core fanbase's trust back by calling these movies for what they are: a mistake.
