Esteemed officers of a beloved institution:

As devoted fans of both Disney and Pixar films, many of us had plans this spring to see the latest release, “ONWARD”. While the writer of this petition was fortunate enough to catch it in the theater, most of us were already forced to ‘shelter-in-place’ due to the despicable actions of a nation that is clearly no longer a friend to America. As it stands, plenty of folks have seen the movie courtesy of Disney On Demand and Roku, but there are too many who aren’t subscribed to those services, and have missed out. As a consequence, Wikipedia is reporting that the film, while brilliant, was only able to gross just over $100 million before box offices were shut down, barely half the film’s budget.

Since we appreciate the time and effort Pixar takes to create high-quality movies, we want to see your work succeed and feel that this should not stand. Thousands of us are angered enough by Disney’s hotels and theme parks being forced to stay closed, and are aggrieved even more at the financial troubles this has beset your employees with. We wish to see the company succeed on any front possible, so it also angers us that the release of Disney films like “Soul”(Pixar), the remake of “Mulan”, “The Woman in the Window”, and particularly Marvel’s “Black Widow”, have been delayed, while “Artemis Fowl” is being shunted right to on-demand platforms. But not wanting to see a good film already in theaters be written off as a flop, we propose this:

With “Soul” now delayed until the holiday season, Pixar fans across America(and probably Europe) will most likely be willing to go and see “ONWARD” at the box office if it were re-released this summer, preferably the Fourth-Of-July weekend(at least for Americans). Perhaps matinee prices would be appropriate with the possible financial trouble the crisis has put on the consumer, but enough people attending the theaters would more than make up for that. Besides, a second successful summer release would be more beneficial to the company that just one(Some of us have noticed that the premiere date of “Jungle Cruise” has not changed, and we look forward to it!). As an added benefit, the fantasy world opened to moviegoers in “ONWARD” has only had its surface scratched by the film, and higher viewership would better open the possibility of a sequel, which has worked beautifully for Pixar with “Toy Story”, “Cars”, and “The Incredibles”. We want to see your films succeed, and any income would help Disney’s family of cast members. Please consider this idea, we will support it!
