Avalanche Software, the studio behind Disney Infinity, is developing a Cars 3 video game for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Following Disney's cancelation of its toys-to-life franchise last year, Avalanche has been re-opened under Warner Bros. and is currently at work on a video game based on the aforementioned Pixar film. The title is slated for release sometime in 2017, but no specific platforms were announced. John Blackburn will head up the reformed Avalanche Software, and the Cars 3 game will be developed using the studio's Octane engine technology, the rights to which have been acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "The Avalanche talent and technology are a great addition to our group of outstanding developers, and we are excited for this Cars 3 game as well as all of the future games the team will create under John’s leadership," Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad said in a statement. After Disney confirmed it would no longer self-publish games in May of last year, several members from Avalanche joined a a new studio based in Salt Lake City focused on "mixed-reality entertainment." Hopefully, this means WB will eventually revive Disney Infinity And the Fans will be so happy to have it back.
