A sheriff is a law enforcement official and as such should enforce the laws even if he doesn’t like them or agree with them. Sheriff Adam Fortney has made some decidedly political statements regarding the stay-at-home orders from our governor. He states he will not enforce it and that he thinks the local economy needs to be reopened. He is entitled to his opinion but not when speaking as our county sheriff. He is refusing to enforce the law which is a dereliction of his duty. He can do his job or resign. I believe we, the voters who elected him, should now recall him!
