The Electoral Commissioner last Saturday presented to Parliament a flimsy excuse as to why he can't continue with the ongoing SRC/Local NUGS Election. Amongst his reasons were he's in final year and so can't conduct the election, the online election isn't feasible etc. 

Parliament acted in bad faith and moved for the termination of the ongoing election without taking into consideration the ripple effects on the candidates and the entire student body. Parliament went ahead and unconstitutionally appointed acting executives who are going to act for a whole academic year meaning the toils of all the candidates are in vain.

Candidates wasted unremediable time and money in campaigning, printing of banners, fliers etc which can not be compensated for in no other way. The three arms of government have all disappointed us as students of this university as online elections are been organised in several universitis ie Christian Service University, Ghana School of Law and yet to hold in KNUST.

The elections have to be organised in order not to set a bad precedence in the university. We therefore crave your indulgence to sign this petition as we submit it to the Vice Chancellor and the  Dean.
