The Urgent Need for Stricter Domestic Violence Laws and an Abuser Registry

The Urgent Need for Stricter Domestic Violence Laws and an Abuser Registry
The Issue
Our daughter has been trapped in a nightmare of repeated abuse at the hands of her husband. She has suffered severe beatings and his controlling behavior has isolated her and their children from family and friends. Despite our cries for help and numerous welfare checks initiated by concerned citizens, there has been no intervention or adequate response from authorities. She has even run down the road, crying for help, yet her pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
Domestic violence is a pervasive issue that affects countless families. Women and children are suffering in silence, often at the hands of those who should love them the most. It's horrifying that, in 2025, stories like our daughter's are still a grim reality. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), approximately 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States, equating to more than 10 million abuse victims annually.
This cycle of violence needs to be broken. No woman or child deserves to live in fear. We are calling for substantial reforms to how domestic violence is addressed and the penalties enforced. Abusers should not get away with merely a slap on the wrist. They must be held accountable for their actions and face meaningful, long-term consequences.
We urge lawmakers to implement stringent laws that mirror the accountability enforced on sex offenders. Abusers should be required to register similarly, thereby notifying communities of their presence and reducing the risk of repeat offenses. It's imperative for the safety of others.
Join us in our fight for justice. Support stronger domestic violence laws. Sign this petition to help make domestic abusers face real consequences and protect future victims from the horrors of abuse.
