Everyday you hear about the doctors and nurses and other hospital workers getting all the attention and appreciation for their dedication to their jobs.  As they most definitely deserve that, there is a huge population of healthcare workers forgotten.  The dedicated group of cnas in long term facilities who have direct contact with positive patients goes unnoticed and unrewarded.  We are the backbone of these facilities.  We are overworked, underpaid and overwhelmed.  We usually have no ppe and have just as much,  If not more,  contact with our patients. We get no extra pay, no appreciation,  no thanks and we go unnoticed as the unsung heroes of healthcare.  We struggle daily to take great care for your family members.  Theres never enough staff to provide the proper care, we are stretched thin,  anxiety riddled and nobody seems to care. I believe that us cnas deserve just as much recognition as other healthcare workers.  We deserve more money, hazard pay and proper protection. We are currently, on occasion, doing the work of 2 or 3 other cnas with no extra compensation.  Those of us who are showing up, because that's what we do, are overwhelmed and overworked. We all deserve more money and rewards.  Hazard pay should be included for the cnas as well.  Please consider signing this.  We deserve soo much more than we are receiving now. Nursing homes across this country are being devastated by the Coronavirus and the affects are destroying lives. Cnas have always been underpaid, but this needs to change now.
