Casualised and precarious staff at the University of Sheffield are facing at best pay cuts and at worst unemployment during the middle of a global pandemic.

Over 300 fixed term university contacts are at risk, meaning that teaching staff who worked tirelessly to get online learning up and running are being let go. These are staff members who have being working overtime for many years, expected to work weekends and juggle unhealthy, unsustainable workloads. 

This petition is calling upon the University of Sheffield and its academic departments to protect its workers whose labour has been the bedrock of the university by offering sustainable contracts. We need an end to precarious contracts.
